Geological Setting Regional The Patricia property is situated in the central portion of the Michipicoten Greenstone Belt. The belt consists of three or more cycles of mafic-felsic volcanism (Sage et al. The Richmont property is situated in the central portion of the Michipicoten Greenstone Belt. This belt is approximately kilometers long and 25 kilometers wide in an east northeasterly direction. The belt consists of three cycles of mafic to felsic volcanism referred to as the Hawk, Wawa and Catfish assemblages (Sage et al. ) ranging.

The banded iron formation can be traced continuously across the northern portion of the belt. The formation is composed mainly of quartz, magnetite, and grunerite. Alteration history. The history of alteration and metamorphism in the Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt remains poorly understood in many : Northern Quebec. The granulite-facies Limpopo Belt (LB) is subdivided into three zones, i.e. a Central Zone (CZ), with a Southern (SMZ) and a Normern Marginal Zone (NMZ). Each zone has its own distinctive geological signature, and is separated from the other zones, and also from the surrounding cratons, by prominent east-north-east trending terrane by:

The Ontario Geological Survey is pleased to provide Summary of Field Work and Other Activities, (OFR ) for electronic y of Field Work and Other Activities presents highlights of, and key new information from, mapping and geoscientific research conducted during the year. The uppermost unit in a greenstone belt is dominated by: sedimentary rocks Which is NOT true about the Grenville Orogeny: a) it was part of the process of the formation of Rodinia; b) it is an example of greenstone belt tectonics; c) it helped stop the mid-continent rift; d) it lies directly beneath Marietta, OH; e) none of these.

As previously mentioned, the Michipicoten greenstone belt lies in the Wawa subprovince; this subprovince is part of the Archean Superior Province, which forms the core of the Canadian Shield. The Goudreau Property is located within the Wawa subprovince of the Superior Province in the Canadian Shield.

The property is located within an Archean greenstone belt known as the Michipicoten Greenstone Belt which is interpreted to be a monoclinal sequence of supracrustal rocks that have been thickened by regional folding (Figure 5).

The Archean Michipicoten greenstone belt of the Superior Province in Ontario is made up of supracrustal rocks divided into lower, middle, and upper metavolcanic rocks with associated. Greenstone Belt. Greenstone belts are zones of metamorphosed mafic/ultramafic volcanic rocks with associated sedimentary rocks that occur in narrow basins within the Precambrian granite and gneiss bodies.

Veins are common in greenstone gold deposits, in many cases forming a major portion of the ore, but overprinting it in others (e.g., Tourigny et al., ; Robert, ).Veins, like unconformities and igneous intrusions, are also useful in separating deformation predating their formation from subsequent increments of strain.

internal to the Michipicoten-Mishibishu greenstone belt. Similiar The property covers part of the south central portion of the Centennial Stock, and is located between the Centennial and Norwalk the alteration zones are more complex.

In the Mishibishu area, the Eagle River deposit (,00 contained. The Eagle River mine is situated in the central portion of the Mishibishu Greenstone belt which is a broad arcuate belt about 60 kilometres long and up to 18 kilometres wide.

This belt is part of the billion year old Wawa-Abitibi Subprovince. One distinction, however, is that the Michipicoten. greenstone belt has a preserved lower stratigraphic unit of volcanic rocks (the Hawk assemblage) with an. age of Ga, as well as similarly evolved Hf isotopic values indicating Mesoarchean contamination in.

the overlying Neoarchean assemblages (Figure ). part of the Michipicoten greenstone belt of the Wawa Subprovince (Figure 2).

The Michipicoten greenstone belt comprises at least three major mafic-felsic metavolcanic cycles intercalated with clastic and chemical metasediments (GoodwinSage ). Two older cycles comprise tholeiitic metabasalt and calc-alkine.

eastern section of the Wawa-Michipicoten Greenstone Belt The property lies within a deformation belt in which some of the largest gold mines in the area were situated, including the last four producing gold mines in the Wawa area. Historically, the area produced some 1, ounces of gold at an average grade of grams Au per tonne.

The Geita Greenstone Belt is a late Archean greenstone belt located in the Tanzania Craton, trending approximately E-W and can be subdivided into three NW-SE trending terrains: the Kukuluma Terrain to the east, the Central Terrain in the middle and the Nyamullilima Terrain.

The Abbie Lake-Keating Project of Ontario Inc., a subsidiary company of Giyani Gold Corp. consists of three contiguous properties of 25 sq-km blocks in Keating Township and 32 claims located in the central part of Kabenung Lake Greenstone volcanic-sedimentary belt and western end of the Goudreau-Lochalsh, Michipicoten greenstone Size: 9MB.

A number of orogenic gold deposits are known in Archean and Paleoproterozoic greenstone and schist belts of the Fennoscandian Shield (e.g., Eilu et al., ).One of the most prospective belts for orogenic gold, indicated by currently known total gold resources in excess of 9 Moz, is the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt (CLGB), which is the most extensive Paleoproterozoic Cited by: 1.

The greenstone belt is surrounded by Early Precambrian granite and gneiss. It is covered by extensive glacial material. The Wawa Gold Project is located along the southern boundary of Michipicoten greenstone belt (Sherman, ).
